As India enters a decisive phase of its rise, a coherent grand strategy is essential to align economic strength, military power, cultural influence, and diplomatic outreach toward long-term national objectives. India’s strategic imperative is to secure autonomy in an era of great-power competition while shaping a stable Indo-Pacific and safeguarding its continental and maritime fronts. Our Grand Strategy program examines how India can leverage its civilizational identity, demographic scale, technological modernization, and geoeconomic position to navigate the international system with confidence and purpose.
The Grand Strategy program integrates geopolitical, economic, and institutional analysis to develop long-range strategic frameworks for India’s foreign policy and statecraft. We study priority areas including supply-chain geopolitics, critical technology leadership, strategic partnerships, military and industrial power, Indian Ocean centrality, and the projection of soft power rooted in Indic values. We seek to generate actionable models for whole-of-government coordination and long-term planning to support the vision of a secure, prosperous, and culturally anchored Vishwa Mitra Bharat.
